Uniformed Security Guard
A Times Super Market uniform guard is to be alert to suspicious activity and safety issues on company property. You will present yourself in a professional manner acknowledging customers entering and leaving the store. The Security officer will also be required to travel to various stores to perform the above security functions.
Essential Job Duties:
- Customer Service
- Maintain an alert and highly visible position at or near the main entrance in an effort to deter shoplifters, robberies, and other security problems.
- Present yourself in a professional manner, acknowledging (greeting and thanking) customers entering and leaving the store.
- Periodically walk outside the front entrance and visually survey the parking lot for suspicious individuals, vehicles or activity.
- Patrols the sales floor, especially in areas identified as potential targets of shoplifters.
- Be aware of anyone entering the store with large bags, backpacks, etc.
- Will be responsible for checking all boxes that leave the store.
- Will make floor checks when requested by the store management personnel.
- Securing and watching the front door upon the stores closing of business for the day.
- Upon closing of store, checking all exits and doors to ensure that they are secured.
- Upon closing of store, will accompany the manager on duty checking the sales floor and back rooms to ensure all customers have left.
- Check all large bags and boxes taken out of the store by employees.
- Will report any safety hazards, suspicious persons or activities to the manager on duty.
- Will maintain a log of incidents that occurred during your shift that will be signed and reviewed by management.
- Will fill out an incident report on suspicious activities or security issues that will be forwarded to the Loss Prevention Department.
- Will be responsible for communicating all incidents to the management person on duty.
- When requested will watch associates to their cars from outside the front door.
- Understand and abide by all company policies and procedures
Other Job Duties and Responsibility:
- Will assist the manager on duty in escorting intoxicated, rowdy or threatening individuals from the store.
- Responsible for the protection of all store equipment from theft and damage.
- Any tasks as deemed necessary by management in time of need or emergency.
Physical Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older.
- Must be able to safely lift 30-40 lbs unassisted.
- Must stand for extended periods of time unassisted.
- Must be able to walk unassisted for most of shift.
Mental Requirements:
- Detail-oriented to complete required reports.
- Uses good judgment in security matters to help prevent liability claims, suits and other adverse legal action.
- Able to work independently and follow standard operating procedures.
- Able to deal with very stressful situations.
Work Hours:
- As determined by employee handbook.
- This is a closing position which could involve weekends and holidays.
Working Conditions:
- Fast-paced environment.
- Cool within the confines of the store.
- Warm to hot while located at front door and walking the perimeter of the store.
Potential Hazards:
- Physical harm and verbal abuse from individuals.
- Shoplifters and Robberies.
Qualifications:
- Education/Training/Experience:
- Must possess a Hawaii guard card.
- Communication:
- Ability to effectively communicate with others in English
- Possess acceptable written and verbal communication skills in English
- Other:
- No supervisory authority. Limited to assisting others in matters of a security nature. Reports to the store management staff in any areas which involves prevention and apprehension of shoplifters.
- Able to quickly pick up and follow through with various request of loss prevention division and store management.
- Troubleshooting/problem-solving ability
Compensation: Starting rate (as deemed by current pay schedule) or commensurate with experience.
