Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department night shift position requiring an active IL RN license and critical care certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in a 65-bed Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department within an acute care hospitalCare for a diverse patient population ranging from newborns to elderly with all acuity levels, including trauma, cardiac events, strokes, and critical illnessesNurse-to-patient ratios vary from 1 : 3 to 1 : 5 depending on acuity and department needsUtilize EPIC EMR for documentation with required orientation to Phillips monitor equipmentThree 12-hour night shifts per week (7p-7a), with rotating weekends and holiday coverageFloat to other units as a support 'help all' may occur but is rare and not expected to entail primary assignment of a teamED team includes attending physicians, mid-levels, two charge nurses per shift, and ED techs with a 1 : 9 tech-to-patient ratioRNs may care for stabilized trauma patients transferred from the trauma bay, but primary assignments in the trauma bay are not typical for travelersNurses are scheduled by management, but time off and block scheduling requests are consideredNo call requirements for travelersTravelers expected to wear tasteful scrubs with solid-colored undershirts; no specific color requiredHoliday coverage requirements align with department needs and can be negotiated in contractNo minimum residence radius requirement; local rates apply to candidates with permanent addresses within 50 milesCOVID-19 vaccination is not required for this assignmentRequirements
Active IL RN license required at time of considerationCurrent certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC or TNSMinimum 2 years of recent ED nursing experience requiredPrior travel assignment experience preferredProficiency in titrating vasoactive and cardiac dripsAbility to interpret and act on cardiac monitor rhythmsGeneral nursing and critical care skills expectedExperience in teaching hospital environments and SANE RN experience preferredBenefits
