Public Relations - Assistant Account Executive (PR AAE) Job at The Motion Agency

Overview Public Relations - Assistant Account Executive (PR AAE). The Assistant Account Executive (AAE) will provide support to the greater account team. The AAE should be well-organized and adaptable, paying close attention to detail on all projects while gaining a deeper understanding of client goals and the media relations landscape. Responsibilities include aiding account teams with media list development, regular media monitoring and reporting, pitch ideation and creation, and media outreach. The AAE will also participate in new business development through thorough research to assist proposals and presentations. The role requires flexibility to juggle multiple tasks across accounts while delivering consistent, strong results.

Responsibilities

Possess a basic knowledge of the media landscape and develop ideas on how to communicate with reporters and producers.

Generate consistent placements for clients in local, trade, and national media outlets.

Develop relationships with reporters, producers, bloggers, and others on local and national levels.

Oversee media list development, coordinating with interns to research client-appropriate reporters and outlets.

Monitor media for client placements, track competitor coverage and industry trends, and share insights with the team.

Demonstrate writing skills through pitches, press materials, award entries, and client-facing emails.

Provide on-site support for client events and assist with on-site / broadcast segments as needed, including potential night / weekend events.

New Business Role

Support new business projects with robust research on potential clients, competitive audits, and target outlets / reporters.

Participate in new business brainstorms, offering story angles, target media, and broader PR / Marketing tactics.

Balance new business activities with existing client work when required.

Develop an understanding of the new business process and its role in Motion’s growth.

Agency / Internal Responsibilities

Demonstrate proactivity by assisting teammates on projects and supporting new business proposals.

Communicate openly with colleagues when guidance or additional assistance is needed.

Foster a positive office environment and contribute to company culture.

Learn about Motion’s offerings and participate in broader activities across departments.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, or Integrated Communications.

Relevant internship experience in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or related fields (research, advertising, management, media, journalism, business, or publishing).

Ability to work on programs including media outreach to local, trade, and national outlets, story mining and press material development, and collaboration with teammates and clients to execute earned media programs.

Business writing and communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
