Join Our Team as a Compliance Specialist – Tampa, FL (Remote)

The Compliance Specialist supports the organization’s efforts to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, industry standards, and internal policies. This role assists with developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs across clinical operations, finance, human resources, and data privacy. The Compliance Specialist works closely with hospital leaders, department managers, and external partners to help mitigate risk and promote a culture of integrity and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support compliance programs related to federal and state laws, including but not limited to OSHA, DEA, labor laws, veterinary board requirements, and data privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA where applicable).
  • Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and policy reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of compliance controls.
  • Support the development, communication, and training of company policies and procedures.
  • Investigate reports of non-compliance or ethical concerns and support resolution in coordination with leadership and legal counsel.
  • Maintain compliance documentation, records, and reports to support audits and internal reviews.
  • Assist with managing licensing and certification renewals for veterinary professionals and hospital operations.
  • Track regulatory changes and industry developments that may impact company operations and compliance obligations.
  • Collaborate with departments including HR, operations, finance, and IT to implement regulatory and policy updates.
  • Promote awareness of ethical standards and regulatory responsibilities throughout the organization.
  • Support the preparation of materials for internal and external audits, inspections, or regulatory filings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Qualifications – Education, Training, and / or Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, legal support, auditing, or risk management required; healthcare or veterinary industry experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks and regulations such as OSHA, HIPAA, DEA, labor laws, and professional licensing boards.
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and investigative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and compliance management tools.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for training, audits, or compliance inspections.
  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration or a related field preferred or equivalent experience.

Success in this role requires analytical thinking, effective communication, discretion, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and capable of balancing regulatory requirements with operational realities while supporting a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
