Job Overview - Substance Use Counselor (CAC) :
Compensation : $25 / hour
Location : Norristown, PA
Schedule : Monday, Thursday, and Sunday, 9 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM (Part-Time)
Join our behavioral health client in Norristown, PA as a Substance Use Counselor (CAC). In this part-time role, you'll provide substance use counseling, education, and care coordination for individuals in the Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. You'll collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop personalized recovery plans, lead evidence-based therapy sessions, and help clients navigate their treatment and long-term recovery goals.
Responsibilities as the Substance Use Counselor (CAC) :
- Client Assessment & Recovery Planning : Complete intakes, conduct ongoing assessments, and develop outcome-based recovery plans for individuals with MAT / SUD needs.
- Therapy & Education : Deliver individual and group counseling using evidence-based practices such as trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and harm reduction.
- Care Coordination & Referrals : Collaborate with primary care and behavioral health teams, manage transitions to higher levels of care, and support taper plans.
- Life Functioning Support : Assist clients in improving daily living skills related to housing, employment, legal issues, and education.
- Administrative & On-Call Duties : Maintain accurate documentation, attend interdisciplinary meetings, support prior authorizations, and participate in after-hours phone rotation.
Qualifications for the Substance Use Counselor (CAC) :
Education : Bachelor's degree preferred.Certification : CAC certification (PA), CPR, First Aid, and Buprenorphine training required or to be completed post-hire.Experience : 2+ years of experience as a Certified Addictions Counselor, with a preference for outpatient and drug and alcohol program settings.Licensure : Valid, non-restrictive driver's license required.Skills & Attributes : Strong interpersonal and crisis management skills with the ability to support clients through recovery and care transitions.Industry Knowledge : Understanding of MAT protocols, addiction recovery strategies, and coordination of community-based services.Technical Proficiency : Proficient in electronic medical records, documentation workflows, and general computer systems, with a willingness to learn new technologies and platforms.Application Notice : Qualified candidates will be contacted within 2 business days of application.
