We are currently seeking :
A Traffic Signs and Markings Tech I to join our team. In this role, you will assist with the installation, maintenance and repair of traffic control signs, and pavement markings.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Performing basic installation of traffic signs and pavement markings; following all safety rules and regulations on the job site; duties may vary according to job assignment.
- Assisting with traffic control flagging and the maintenance and repair of traffic control signs as directed.
- Operating equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; identifying and reporting mechanical problems requiring additional repair.
- Completing daily work log, incident and accident reports.
- Assuring that hazardous materials are cleaned up according to City policy and procedures; responding as directed to perform emergency assistance work.
- Following all safety rules and regulations on the job site.
- Monday through Thursday 6 : 00 am to 4 : 30 pm. Must be able to be on call as needed; to include weekends and holidays.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements and Skills :
Operating equipment used in the installation and maintenance of traffic signal systems.Operating and maintaining tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Education and Experience :
High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred experience such as the fabrication, installation and repair of traffic signs and markings. Knowledge of construction or digital data communications may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. (Experience requirements may be satisfied by full-time experience or the prorated part-time equivalent.)
Required Licenses or Certifications :
Must possess a valid / eligible Texas Driver License with a good driving record.Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.This is an entry level position. An International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Work Zone Traffic Control Safety Certification is preferred, and if applicant does not already hold this certificate, it must be obtained within 12 months of hire as a condition of employment.Physical Demands / Work Environment :
Work is performed indoors in a shop environment and outdoors in City traffic; required to perform moderate physical work, and lift and carry up to 113 pounds.Job postings may be withdrawn at any time at direction of the City Manager.
