About the Position

The MaineHealth Cancer Care (MHCC) invites hematologist-oncologists with subspecialty interest in Hematology or pure Hematologists to join our dynamic teams at MaineHealth Cancer Care, Blood Disorders and IV Therapy at Portland, Maine and Sanford, Maine. This is a fantastic opportunity to practice comprehensive hematology care in a rapidly expanding, supportive environment.

Advanced Technology : Utilize state-of-the-art analytics, including ASCO CancerLinQ, and work within the EPIC EMR system with BEACON for oncology care.

Subspecialized hematology practice : Many complex malignant and classical hematology cases with a statewide referral base. Participation in our Hemophilia Program.

Comprehensive Supportive Services : Work alongside dedicated pharmacists, nurse navigators, social workers, palliative care providers, and allied staff within a well-equipped on-site infusion center.

Inpatient care at the Maine Medical Center (MMC) : MMC is the state's leading tertiary care hospital with 700 licensed beds, a Level I Trauma Center and an affiliate of Tufts University School of Medicine with a full complement of residencies and fellowships. Designated inpatient hematology-oncology floor, capable of inpatient induction chemotherapy for AML, ALL, aggressive lymphomas.

Attractive call schedule : Approximately 1 : 8, week-long call, rounding only at one hospital during the call week. Inpatient hospitalist and resident house-staff support.

Flexibility & Balance : This is a full-time position defined as four days a week in the outpatient setting and 1 day of administrative time. Position is based in South Portland for two days with regional care delivery at Sanford on the other two days.

Tertiary Support : Access to advanced tertiary care hematology services at Maine Health Cancer Care (MHCC) and Maine Medical Center (MMC) in Portland, the state's leading tertiary care hospital.

Exciting Growth Opportunity : A state of the art, comprehensive cancer center under planning at Wells, ME will replace the current facilities at Sanford over the next years. Once open, this custom-built facility incorporating radiation oncology, radiology, laboratory and a full complement of support services is expected to become the preferred destination for oncology services in Southern Maine.

Qualifications

MD or DO from an accredited medical school.

Successful completion of residency / fellowship in oncology or hematology-oncology.

Board-certified or board-eligible in oncology or hematology-oncology.

New graduates and early-career professionals are strongly encouraged to apply.
