Lieutenant- Armed Protective Security Officers - (Incumbents Only)
Position Summary :
The Lieutenant is a mid-level leadership role responsible for supervising day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with client requirements, and supporting Captains and Majors in managing Protective Security Officers (PSOs). The Lieutenant provides direct oversight of assigned shifts, enforces security standards, and serves as a key liaison between frontline staff and upper management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Supervise and direct the activities of Security Officers during assigned shifts to ensure contract compliance and adherence to BTI Security policies.
- Conduct routine inspections of posts, officer performance, and uniform compliance.
- Prepare and submit daily activity reports, incident reports, and shift summaries to Captains and Majors.
- Assist with scheduling, post assignments, and coverage of call-outs to maintain full operational staffing.
- Respond to incidents, emergencies, or client concerns, ensuring timely escalation to senior leadership when necessary.
- Train, coach, and mentor newly assigned officers; provide corrective action guidance when needed.
- Maintain knowledge of site-specific post orders, clearance requirements, and client expectations.
- Act as on-site point of contact for clients during assigned shifts, ensuring professional communication and issue resolution.
- Support Captains and Majors in developing and implementing operational improvements and morale-building initiatives.
- Perform administrative duties such as reviewing timekeeping records, tracking equipment, and ensuring proper documentation.
Minimum Requirements :
Must be at least 21 years of ageBe a United States citizen; or a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard)Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individuals name and social security numberA minimum of two (2) years of experience security (armed) experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a full-service police department in a municipality, state, or federal law enforcement department within the US.A minimum of two (2) years as a member of any US Armed Forces with an honorable dischargeShall fluently speak, read, comprehend English, and be able to compose written reports in EnglishMust be able to qualify with a revolver or semi-automaticStrong relevant knowledge of the security industryExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMust have a customer service-driven mindsetAbility to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customersPrior supervisory experience in security, law enforcement, or military preferred.Ability to manage personnel in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.Strong communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.Familiarity with BTI Security’s operational standards, clearance requirements, and reporting systems.Physical Demands :
