SENIOR ENGINEERING DESIGNER - TRANSPORTATION
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Civil Designer with a focus on Transportation to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing highway and bridge infrastructure projects, including roadways, intersections, pavement markings, signage, traffic signals, culverts and bridges.
The individual in this role supports and assists experienced engineers and other multidisciplined team members throughout the planning and design phases for regional industrial and commercial projects. As a member of the civil engineering team, the Senior Engineering Designer has a minimum of four years of experience and has passed the FE examination. Reporting to a licensed Engineer or Project Manager, you are independent and work on moderate to complex projects that are moderate to large.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
- You earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- You’ve got a minimum of four (4) years of civil engineering experience.
- You are an Engineer in Training (EIT)
- You have a valid driver’s license and a willingness to periodically use your own vehicle for travel to job sites (mileage reimbursable).
- You can perform moderately difficult technical computations and consolidate acquired data.
- You have a strong comprehension of the design guidelines and standards of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT).
- You’re proficient in MicroStation, OpenRoads, and / or other industry best programs, as well as the Microsoft Office Suite
- You design using OpenRoads for Grading, Alignments, Profiles, Corridors, Pipe Networks.
- Experienced in working with NYSDOT CADD Standards
- You can comprehend and carry out oral or written instructions.
- You have solid written and verbal communication skills.
- An understanding of construction plans / specifications and their application to public works projects.
- Desire to impart knowledge and share skill set with junior staff.
- Experience using Appia Construction Cloud a plus.

Prepare and design plans for new and / or rehabilitated transportation systems (highway and / or bridge), or parts of systemsWork Collaboratively with other team members, consultants, and our clients.Research, evaluate and execute appropriate engineering techniques and code provisions for a wide range of projects with unique needs.Prepare conceptual drawings and report graphics.Proactively assist Project Managers, Project Engineers and PrincipalsProvide technical support during project construction, including reviewing plans, conducting site inspections, and resolving engineering issues. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employees already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
