Primary Function

Perform drafting duties using basic drafting skills and techniques for medium / high voltage substation or transmission line drawings. Assignments are closely supervised and are designed to develop the employee’s understanding of drafting techniques, corporate / client standards, and procedures. CAD Technicians will either be dedicated to Electrical, Transmission, or Civil / Structural design projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Revise CADD drawings per engineering markups

Learn and apply the corporate / client standard of drafting and engineering practices

Learn and properly use document management systems

Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his / her work

Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party

Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments

Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Associate degree in drafting & design is required. A certificate in CAD drafting & design with relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of an associate degree.

Possess skills in the following areas

Experience with AutoCAD 2010 and newer is required.

Experience with Microstation preferred but not required

3D CADD experience preferred but not required

Basic drafting including drawing scales, drawing layouts (Paperspace / Modelspace), and accurately reproducing engineering markups

CADD, word processing, spreadsheet, and e‑mail software

Ability to work in a team environment

Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with co‑workers

Physical Requirements

This position requires minimal physical effort.

Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year round weather conditions and noise.

Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and / or meetings as required (10%)

Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.

May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
