Responsibilities as Chaplain :

Provide direct spiritual support and / or counsel to patients / families in keeping with patients’ / families’ beliefs.

Work with staff, clergy and community groups to enhance their sensitivity to the spiritual concerns of patients / families experiencing terminal illness and loss.

Participate in IDG conference by exploring and assessing the potential spiritual needs of patients / families and

reporting on services as indicated.

Provide bereavement follow-up services as assigned.

Maintain proper records of visits to patients / families.

Contact clergy or appropriate representatives of patients / families as indicated.

Perform occasional liturgical assignments, e.g., memorial services with staff.

Conduct or assist funeral or memorial arrangements and conduct services, when indicated

Qualifications for Chaplain :

Minimum 2-year experience as a chaplain / spiritual counsellor preferred.

Active patient contact within the past 3 years, preferred.

Certification in at least (STATE) in Theology or related field and accrual of four units CPE

Bachelor's degree in religious studies or related field required.

Masters in theology, Divinity or Pastoral Studies is required. Master's degree program transcripts should be able to document the completion of 72 semester hours, last approximately three years and may include an internship or one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
