ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE :
The Echocardiography Technologist will perform all types of echocardiography testing. This role will assist physicians deliver safe and age-appropriate patient care during testing in the echocardiography lab. Additionally, this role will work collaboratively with the care team to promote wellness and optimize patient outcomes and quality care. Current need is twice a week.
- Please note, this is a per-diem / part-time position with a regular schedule of one day per week. While additional shifts may occasionally be available based on clinic needs, this role is best suited for candidates seeking limited, flexible hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Performs exercise and pharmacological transthoracic echocardiograms and stress echo tests per department and management guidelinesCaptures digital cardiac images and performs measurements correctly, including recognizing pathology and / or customizing exams requiring contrast agent accordingly due to lack of image qualityResponds to stat calls and reports life threatening pathology to attending physicianPrepares echocardiogram procedure, including equipment, supplies, instruments, and appropriate paperworkParticipates in orientation of new employees, as neededMonitors quality control of equipment and escalates issues, as needed.Participates in performance improvement activities that impact patient and service outcomes based on professional practice standardsEDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
High school diploma / GED required; associate’s degree in cardiovascular technology preferredCertificate of completion from an accredited cardiac ultrasound program requiredValid license in echocardiography from the Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Congenial Sonographer (RCCS) requiredRegistry eligible according to the ARDMS or CCI Standards requiredValid BLS certification from approved American Health Association provider required upon hireOne year echocardiogram experience required , two years’ experience preferredExperience performing echocardiography with echo machines from various manufacturers in the echo lab requiredADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) :
