We provide expert advice and consultation on a diverse range of IT subjects, focusing on acquisition, policy, cybersecurity, engineering, and process development.
The Data Engineer I will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of data pipeline infrastructure in support of the Commander, Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR) N6 Directorate, focusing on the ingestion, transformation, and delivery of data to support Information Warfare readiness and decision-making.
Responsibilities
This early-career data engineering role supports the NAVIFOR Command Data Office (CDO) in building scalable and reliable data systems. The candidate will work alongside senior engineers and data scientists to streamline data access and build the foundation for advanced analytics and reporting. This is a hybrid position based in Suffolk, VA, with limited travel anticipated.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain ETL pipelines and supporting data structures
- Implement automated data ingestion routines using standard tools and APIs
- Conduct data transformation, normalization, and validation workflows
- Assist in optimizing data flow and delivery within cross-functional teams
- Perform tuning and debugging of stored procedures, SQL queries, and data packages
- Support Agile-based data development efforts, including backlog grooming and sprint participation
- Collaborate with analytics, systems, and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure, efficient data operations
- Maintain technical documentation for data pipelines, structures, and flow diagrams

Education : Bachelor of Science in Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related fieldExperience :At least 3 years of experience in data format conversion and ETL / ELT development using APIs and scripting toolsAt least 2 years of experience working in Agile / Scrum development environmentsClearance : Active Secret Clearance requiredTechnical Skills :Familiarity with ETL tools (e.g., Apache NiFi, Talend, Informatica) and scripting in Python, SQL, or equivalentExposure to Navy or DoD enterprise data environments preferredWorking knowledge of relational databases, JSON / XML transformation, and cloud-based data storage a plusMust be capable of performing effectively individually and as part of a teamMust have effective critical thinking and problem-solving skillsMust be self-motivated and able to deliver with minimal supervisionProficient in Microsoft Office SuitePay Range
Base pay is $85,000-$95,000, subject to skill level, qualifications, and location.
