Cpa Senior Tax Associate Public Accounting
Recruiting and staffing of this position is being handled by Corps Team on behalf of our client. This position is a part-time hourly employee Senior Tax Associate position with our client who is a well-respected, boutique public accounting firm offering interesting work along with an excellent quality of life. This role is remote and is expected to be ongoing with hours ranging from 10 hours per week to 30-40 during busy season. This position will be eligible for 401k and PTO. Work hours will be East Coast core business hours between 8 am to 5 pm EST. The Senior Tax Associate will be responsible for preparing and filing tax returns for individuals and small businesses during the busy tax season. This role involves working directly with clients to gather information, prepare tax documents, and ensure accurate and timely filings. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities :
The successful candidate will have 5+ years of tax experience with a public accounting firm. Primary responsibilities include :
- Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and small businesses.
- Review financial records such as income statements and documentation of expenditures to determine forms needed to prepare tax returns.
- Interview clients to obtain additional information on taxable income and deductible expenses and allowances.
- Verify totals on forms prepared by others to detect errors in arithmetic or procedure.
- Consult tax law handbooks or bulletins to determine procedures for the preparation of atypical returns.
- Compute taxes owed or overpaid, using adding machines or personal computers, and complete entries on forms, following tax form instructions and tax tables.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality of all client information.
- Provide excellent customer service and build strong client relationships.
- Assist clients with basic questions regarding tax forms and other tax-related issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education :
A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance and 5+ years of tax work are required.
Skills and Requirements :
5+ years of tax preparation experience with a public accounting firm, with a focus on private client services, high-net-worth individuals, or small business.Active CPA or EA required.Candidates must be available for increased hours during March and April, not expected to exceed around 40 hours per week.Knowledge of public accounting practices and procedures required.Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.Proficiency in tax preparation software (preferably CCH).Proven ability to establish strong relationships.Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.Must be a team player, able to handle ambiguity, anticipate and react to changes quickly (flexible with hours and duties).Candidates must reside in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, New Jersey or Florida where the firm is registered.
