Job Summary

Join SL Tech & Workforce Education as a part-time Cybersecurity Instructor and help shape the future of our students by providing high-quality education in the field of cybersecurity. This position involves teaching foundational and advanced cybersecurity concepts in a supportive and dynamic learning environment. The successful candidate will be passionate about cybersecurity, skilled in hands-on instruction, and dedicated to fostering student success. This part-time position requires working at multiple SLCC campuses where classes will be held in-person and online, in the evenings. Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Deliver engaging and effective classroom and lab instruction on cybersecurity topics, including network security, ethical hacking, security protocols, and more.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the curriculum standards and learning objectives of the program.
  • Utilize active and applied learning strategies to ensure students gain practical skills and knowledge.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments, projects, and exams to support student learning and improvement.
  • Track and report student progress, including maintaining accurate attendance and performance records.
  • Assist students with technical challenges related to coursework and lab activities.

  • Contribute to the development and updating of cybersecurity curriculum to keep pace with industry standards and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to refine course content and instructional materials.
  • Ensure a safe, organized, and effective learning environment in both classroom and lab settings.
  • Report any maintenance or technical issues related to lab equipment and resources.
  • Stay current with industry trends, certifications, and best practices in cybersecurity.
  • Participate in professional development activities and required training sessions.
  • Maintain open communication with students, colleagues, and program coordinators to support the overall success of the program.
  • Be available to teach courses at various times and locations as required by the program.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or higher and relevant industry certifications
  • 3 years recent teaching and / or work experience in related field
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Linux, Cisco, Microsoft, Cybersecurity and related certifications.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related field.
  • Programming / scripting knowledge and experience (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
  • Cisco Certified Academy Instructor (CCAI), Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+).
  • Experience with cloud technologies (Azure, MS 365, AWS, virtualization).
  • Cybersecurity knowledge and experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a related field.
  • Current certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or similar.
  • Experience with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS), programming / scripting (PowerShell, Python), and virtualization.
  • Teaching experience in a post-secondary or adult education setting.

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, practices, and tools.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Proven ability to create a supportive learning environment for students of varying backgrounds and skill levels.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic educational setting.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, capable of working effectively with students, lab aides, and other members in a collaborative environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Must be adaptable, flexible, and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic classroom setting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during instructional sessions or in the lab environment.
  • Must be dependable, organized, and able to maintain accurate records of student performance and lab activities.
  • Ability to represent the College and Division in a professional manner, adhering to College policies and procedures.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on supporting student success and fostering a positive learning experience.
