Arlington County's Department of Human Services (DHS) is hiring one full-time, bilingual (English / Spanish) Human Services Clinician to support Arlington Partner / SHIFT (Shaping Healthy Interactions For Tomorrow) Program, a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, survivor-centered human services program. The Human Services Clinician will provide clinical support and direct services for participants enrolled in the Arlington Partner / SHIFT Program. Partner / SHIFT is a County-wide, state certified domestic violence intervention program focused on intimate partner violence support and accountability for those that caused harm. While the Human Services Clinician II will work with all Partner / SHIFT clients they will primarily serve the programs Spanish-speaking clients. Responsibilities

Specific duties include :

  • Providing direct clinical interventions including intakes and risks assessments, facilitating three weekly psycho-educational classes, and providing one-on-one therapeutic interventions, diagnosis, and treatment planning;
  • Completing all necessary trainings and following the policies and guidelines of the program;
  • Completing all client documentation to include maintaining client databases and writing weekly progress notes and monthly status reports in addition to participating in regular quality assurance and review;
  • Participating in case staffing and supervision meetings for clinical review and case management;
  • Engaging with victims of the participants in the program (domestic violence survivors) by conducting ongoing and accurate risk assessments, developing safety plans and making referrals;
  • Collaborating with community and referral partners to ensure holistic support of clients; and
  • Assisting participants with accessing other resources by providing them with information on available resources and services, making needed referrals and advocating when needed.

The ideal candidate will have experience in facilitating mental health or support groups, exceptional organization and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

Minimum :

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or other directly related clinical discipline, all of which requires a clinical practicum involving diagnostic, treatment and case management services.
  • Two years of experience working in the field of domestic or intimate partner violence which included the application of diagnostic treatment and case management services.
  • Bilingual : Proficient in speaking and understanding Spanish.
  • Substitution : Directly related higher level clinical degrees may substitute for the Master's Degree education requirement and 1 year of experience.

    Desirables : Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following :

  • Working with criminal justice partners, Victim Witness agencies, non-profit partners; educators, and other government officials;
  • Clinical license (LPC, LCSW, LCP, LMFT) in Virginia; and / or
  • 2+ years of experience working with domestic violence offenders in a therapeutic environment.
  • Special Requirements

    Applicant must possess, or obtain by the time of appointment, a valid motor vehicle operator's license from the applicant's place of residence or the applicant must have the ability and willingness to use alternative methods of transportation to perform assigned duties and responsibilities at multiple locations other than the primary worksite.

    A pre-hire background check will be made on all candidates who are selected for employment. It may include checks of the following : criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.

    A pre-hire federal background check and State of Virginia Central Registry check will be performed.

    An assessment of verbal Spanish proficiency would be required before a candidate can be appointed to this bilingual position (English / Spanish). The incumbent in this bilingual position will receive the language pay premium on all hours worked.

    Employment restrictions : To ensure that dual relationships are avoided and that employees who are also clients do not relate to their service provider as co-professionals, employees will not be hired by the County to provide or support services to the team or program in which they are current clients :

  • You cannot concurrently receive behavioral health services from Arlington County Community Service Board (CSB) programs while employed in an Arlington County CSB program (exception Crisis Intervention services).
  • At least 24 months must have passed between receipt of CSB services from Arlington County and employment in an Arlington County CSB program.

    Additional Information :

    Work Schedule : Flexible but must include 5 : 30pm-8 : 30pm Tues-Thurs to support group psychoeducational classes.

    Work Location : Hybrid work schedule with minimum 2 days in the office at 2100 Washington Blvd., Arlington, (Sequoia Plaza)
