Job description

Customer Service Representative

The Town of Culpeper is seeking an experienced and customer-focused professional to join our Treasurer's Office as a Customer Service Representative. This role is essential in supporting utility customers, taxpayers, and the general public by providing courteous and accurate assistance with payments, account inquiries, and other customer service needs.

Primary functions include :

  • Receiving, processing, and receipting revenues, fees, and payments, including night deposits.
  • Balancing daily cashiering transactions and preparing bank deposits.
  • Answering in-person, email, and telephone inquiries and resolving complaints.
  • Setting up new utility service accounts, processing termination requests, and scheduling appointments.
  • Preparing and tracking utility service work orders.
  • Downloading and reconciling electronic payment transaction data.
  • Performing assigned functions in the Town's ERP system (Tyler MUNIS) and electronic payment platforms.
  • Processing requests for credit references and updating customer account information.
  • Performing routine office support tasks.

Skills & Qualifications :

  • General knowledge of cash handling, including the ability to count money and make change accurately.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle technical and financial matters professionally.
  • Ability to balance cash drawer transactions, prepare deposits, and perform accurate computations.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public.

    • Education & Experience :

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, supplemented by at least 2 years of experience in cashiering and customer service.
  • Associate degree or higher in business administration, accounting, or a related field preferred.
