Electrical Specialist

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE :

This position will be the primary technical resource for all electrical needs and requirements of the mine on the shift assigned.

Responsible to keep current with new technologies as they apply to the mining industry. Assist management in teaching, training and qualifying other electrical personnel on the procedures of installing, troubleshooting and repairing various mine electrical systems and related components.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :

• Maintain proper quality standards and cost awareness
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and equipment
• Observe and inspect electrical work to assist management in their training needs of other electrical technicians.
• Assist the electrical department with safety and compliance with all applicable laws, codes and safe work procedures.
• Demonstrate proper electrical procedures and compliance with company policies.
• Maintain proper quality standards and cost awareness
• Develop and share effective and efficient work methods. Develop and implement best practices.
• Assist in annual electrical retraining.
• Review new technologies and implement where practical as directed by management
• Use creativity in problem solving and the enhancement of existing systems and processes
• Proactive approach to optimizing available resources
• Assist management in developing training programs for technicians.
• Follow up on electrical work and permissibility inspections
• Involved with planning monthly electrical inspections
• Become intimate with monitoring and control systems - (PLC's, Conspec, RsViews)
