What you will be doing
Assist with spotting cars on the correct track, move empty cars, and build the outbound trainVisually inspect rail cars and perform air brakes inspectionsCross-training and willingness to assist in the different functions performed at the facilityOperate a locomotive - we provide training and certification!Participate in and promote the Savage safety programRequirements of a successful Rail Switchman
Active Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC card)One year or more of Rail Industry experience is a plusAbility to perform basic maintenance and attend and pass all training associated with job-related coursework.This includes, but is not limited to, OSHA, HazMat, and FRA-related coursesWork experience in an industrial environmentFor safety reasons, you must be able to read, write, understand, and follow written and / or verbal instructions in EnglishA high school diploma or equivalentHere are some of the physical requirements of this roleAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditionsComfortable with heightsWalk 5+ miles per day on uneven terrain, etc.Must be able to lift 50 lbs.Additional Information :
