The Kemper Cardiac Intensive Care Unit is a busy and fast-paced 14-bed Intensive Care Unit that provides 24 / 7 monitoring of patients suffering from heart diseases and conditions, such as chest pains, heart attacks, or life-threatening irregular heart rhythms. Caregivers in this unit work with the Department of Cardiology and the Invasive Cardiology team, participate in the Code Crimson team, respond to all in-patient rapid responses and Code Blue alarms, and regularly assists in the monitoring and care of patients receiving moderate sedation procedures, such as transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and cardioversions. As a PCNA on this team, you will provide or assist with basic direct patient care activities under the supervision of an RN.

This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working shifts varying from 7 : 00 a.m. 7 : 30 p.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will :

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers / transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and inserting / removing urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean and orderly.
