Description : CHILD CARE PROVIDER

  • 1.5 to 4 hours a week
  • Evening & Weekend Hours

Department : Health Department Reports To : Raising Riley Supervisor

Pay Range : TASND Status : As needed

POSITION SUMMARY : The Childcare Provider is responsible for ensuring the safety, care, and well-being of children, from birth through 12 years, during program related functions or training when caregivers are on-site. This position involves supervising children, following safe sleep practices, and appropriately tending to their social and emotional needs in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Supervise and monitor children, ensuring safety and well-being while parents are on-site.
  • Ability to interact with children in a patient, enthusiastic and positive manner.
  • Provide care for children, including feeding, changing diapers, assisting with personal hygiene, and engaging children in age-appropriate activities.
  • Encourage positive behavior, redirect and assist children in developing appropriate social skills.
  • Maintain clear communication with parents regarding the child’s activities and behavior during their time in care.
  • Support children's emotional development by providing comfort, reassurance, and guidance.
  • Keep children engaged through creative play, learning activities, and interactive experiences.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for the children.
  • Follow all health, safety, and hygiene protocols and guidelines. Report any concerns or incidents immediately to coordinating staff.
  • Document children’s progress and any incidents and notify caregivers / parents at pick up.
  • Reliable and dependable for scheduled shifts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Requirements :

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS :

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Education : A high school diploma or equivalent preferred. CPR, First Aid preferred. Safe Sleep training required upon hire.
  • Experience : Previous experience in childcare or early childhood education preferred.
  • Skills : Patience, compassion, and a desire to work with infants, toddlers and children. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with both children and parents. Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively. Knowledge of child development, behavior management, and safety guidelines. Ability to work collaboratively with parents while respecting their presence on-site. Flexibility to adjust activities based on the parents' needs and requests.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift / pushes / pulls 50+lbs, frequently lifts up of 25-50lbs and constant lift up to 25lbs. The employee may be asked to do basement work while assisting with elections. This could mean exposure heat, dust and / or humidity. During election season the employee might be required to work longer hours than a normal 8-hour workday.

    The employee is exposed to normal noise level. May also be exposed to tense and sometimes confrontational situations while assisting parents.
