The Position

As an Engineering Technician in the Instrument Engineering team at GenMark you are someone highly motivated and team-oriented who is passionate about maintaining performance and resolving defects for the technical diagnostics systems (ePlex specifically). You are responsible for the maintenance troubleshooting and repair of ePlex instrumentation within the R&D Engineering team.

This position is based in Carlsbad CA and may require occasional travel to alternate facilities.

The Opportunity

This role ensures the reliability and functionality of diagnostic instruments by performing scheduled maintenance diagnosing failures and collaborating with engineers to resolve technical this role you are :

• Conducting monitoring repair and scheduled preventive maintenance on ePlex instruments across multiple lab environments utilizing hand tools power tools and electronic test equipment for diagnostics and repairs.
• Diagnosing failures replacing defective components and performing detailed troubleshooting with engineering support using electronic test equipment drawings and diagrams.
• Operating soldering equipment verifying dimensions and clearances with precision measuring instruments and ensuring all components comply with required specifications.
• Executing verification and validation test plans based on established protocols making detailed observations analyzing data and interpreting results to support system performance improvements.
• Preparing detailed reports to document defects and identify trends for stakeholders while maintaining accurate maintenance and repair logs and keeping laboratory and project workspaces organized.

Work Environment :

The essential functions of the job are usually performed in an environmentally controlled facility where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This position may involve a combination of office and biotechnology laboratory environments. The employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals blood-borne pathogens and automated equipment. While performing the job duties the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee may sometimes be required to lift and / or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision and ability to adjust focus.

The expected salary range for this position in California is 46100 - 85700. Actual pay will be determined based on experience qualifications geographic location and other job-related factors permitted by law.
