Job description

The YWCA of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County seeks a Chief Financial Officer to provide comprehensive fiscal oversight of the organization including, but not limited to, expertise in management of the organization's accounting software, budgeting, fiscal reporting, execution of annual audit(s), regular forecasting, grants management, supporting / training leadership in budget management, and demonstration of excellence in both hiring and mentoring high functioning teams. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The primary responsibilities of this position are : (a) Supervision of the Accounting staff (b) Provides guidance to all supervisors regarding fiscal monitoring methods (c) Ensures effective and efficient collaboration across the organization (d) Directs the organizations 's financial processes and procedures (e) Maintains the accounting system / software (f) Produces monthly financial statements (g) Coordinates annual (external) audits / 990 (h) Oversees the organization's payroll function (I) Allocates all expenses to appropriate expense codes and invoices as appropriate (j) Supports and assists through grant submission and management process (k) Develops annual operating budget for organization, collaborating with senior leadership (l) Completes budget projections monthly and as otherwise requested (m) Oversees accounts payable / receivable (n) Knowledgeable of investment portfolio including gift acceptance policies (o) Ensures compliance with all licensing and grant requirements (p) Establishes and maintain relationships with public funders (q) Presents to staff, leadership, and the Board as required (r) Ensures compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements (s) Oversees new hire process related to payroll (t) Manages employee insurance options during open enrollment and onboarding and communicates with brokers as needed (u) Participates in strategic planning with the leadership team.

Requirements : (1) Bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred) in finance, accounting, or business administration from an accredited university. (2) Experience of seven (7) or more years in the nonprofit, government, or philanthropy sector, overseeing the accounting function. (3) Demonstrated ability to analyze and compile complex data for planning and reporting purposes. (4) Strong analytical, strategic thinking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. (5) Demonstrated experience in successfully working across all levels of the organization including employees, management, executive leadership, board of directors and committees in a nonprofit setting. (6) Experience developing and monitoring budgets in excess of $3MM. (7) Proficient with enterprise accounting software, Microsoft Office, donor, and electronic client records platforms. (8) Ability to manage multiple projects in a fluid and dynamic environment.
