Mount Pleasant Church and Ministries (www.mountpleasant.org) is seeking a dynamic Director of Finance with a proven track record of success to manage ministry finances. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day (32 hours a week) finance operations, cash flow management, budget forecasting, overseeing the accounting system, financial reporting and contributing to strategic financial decisions that will strengthen, safeguard and promote growth of ministry assets.
Finance Director Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct day-to-day financial activities of the organization.
- Manage daily cash flow needs.
- Maintain the accounting system, general ledger, chart of accounts, ministry classification and user access.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all accounting work.
- Regularly assess contributions and report to Ministry Leadership.
- Assist CFO with preparing / implementing company-wide and ministry budgets.
- Prepare company financial statements as needed, including at least monthly and annually.
- Oversee month‑end close and account reconciliations.
- Manage third‑party payroll‑processing system; process payroll and ensure taxes are remitted to each tax authority in a timely manner.
- Prepare annual 1099s, State of Maryland Personal Property Tax Return (Form 1), Sales Tax Exemption renewal and other regulatory tax filings, as needed.
- Direct and manage annual external independent financial audit, workers compensation audit, and others as needed.
- Manage all financial reporting, including to external lenders at financial institutions.
- Calculate and manage debt obligations and requirements.
- Prepare cash flow / budget forecasts of financial trends.
- Maintain and / or, as needed, establish internal policies, procedures and work processes for the financial department (including accounting and billing) and monitor their progress.
- Analyze and interpret financial data and present the information with reports and presentations to the Finance Board.
- Communicate completely and professionally with ministry leaders and staff.
- Knowledgeable and understands GAAP, current laws and regulations.
Finance Director Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.Master’s degree and / or CPA is desirable but not required.8+ years’ experience in a senior accounting position.Proficient in QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Office 365, online payment processing applications, banking applications and other relevant business software.Experience with financial forecasting, accounting principles, and financial data analysis.Strong interpersonal skills with the propensity to successfully foster new and maintain long‑standing ministry and business relationships.Effective leadership skills with proven results in staff development.Excellent communication skills, both orally and written.Ability to prioritize and delegate responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner.Outstanding integrity, strong moral judgment, and the ability to make important decisions under pressure.Expert problem solver, analytical thinker, and decision‑maker.Prior experience in non‑profit organizations is a plus.#J-18808-Ljbffr
