Summary
The Intake Specialist is an integral member of the Housing Services Team and works collaboratively with the Housing Services Program Manager, Program Coordinator and Resource Navigator to support individuals and families seeking rental and utility assistance. The intake specialist will conduct eligibility screenings, collect and verify eligibility documentation, complete initial paperwork and enter data into the appropriate systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Orient individuals and families to the community outreach fund and serve as the first point of contact for participants seeking assistance.
Determine community assistance eligibility and admissions based on program guidelines, and complete trauma-informed intake in adherence to program policy and procedures. Ensure accuracy and completeness of all documents.
Complete Community Fund documentation and assessments according to policy and procedure and document data as appropriate within all required systems.
Track and regularly update community assistance referrals utilizing internal tracking mechanisms.
Track and regularly update an active tracking mechanism for utility amounts, rent amounts, and other pertinent information.
Establish and maintain consistent verbal and written communication channels between all involved parties; act as a liaison between individuals, families, property managers / landlords and utility companies as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in social work or related field; two years of experience working with vulnerable / at risk populations. The ability to work with, and recognize, the special needs of individuals and families experiencing individual hardships and knowledge of a wide range of community resources.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Flexibility, self-motivation, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of management, employees / peers, and families, work proactively and independently with minimum supervision and maximum accountability.
Case management and case coordination skills. Knowledge of housing resources and community programs and how to access them; mainstream benefits programs and eligibility requirements; basic landlord-tenant rights and responsibilities and tenancy skills and or supports.
Ability to learn and use any other software programs needed in the operations of CTL programs, including, but not limited to the CTL ETO, HMIS ETO, and multiline phone systems.
