Scope of Services :
Under the direction of the Program Supervisor, performs professional duties including therapeutic assessments, treatment plan development, therapy implementation, and evaluation of data to determine progress towards goals and to adjust the plan as needed. Functions as supervising discipline for assigned cases; performs related work as required.
- Conducts a comprehensive OT Assessment and makes appropriate professional recommendations;
- Participates as a “supervising discipline” in Interdisciplinary Team Meetings in preparation of Individual Plan of Service, as directed by the Person-Centered Planning process;
- Proposes goals and objectives for inclusion in the Person-Centered Plan that are within the OT scope of practice;
- Provides appropriate in-service training for staff assigned to implement OT goals and objectives;
- Provides a Comprehensive Monthly or Quarterly Assessment of OT goals and objectives and make recommendations for changes;
- Attends assigned meetings;
- Provides individual, group, family, milieu, and / or activity therapy;
- Performs specialized evaluations, make recommendations, and plans treatment for persons with severe sensory processing and physical disabilities;
- As part of an interdisciplinary treatment team, participates in Person-Centered Planning, coordinates treatment interventions, teaches direct care workers to carry out plans and monitor progress;
- Maintains accurate and complete records in accordance with timeliness and quality requirements and provides written reports as requested;
- Provides consultation and training to Genesee Health System staff;
Qualifications Required : An individual who is licensed by the State of Michigan to practice as an occupational therapist.
Minimum Requirements : Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy and registered by the State of Michigan as an Occupational Therapist. Must be able and willing to provide occupational therapy services as outlined in the Michigan Medicaid Manual.
Ability to evaluate occupational therapy needs and to summarize evaluation findings in a report.Ability to develop treatment plans in coordination with other service professionals and schools, based on the results of the evaluation.Ability to work directly or indirectly with persons with mental illness and / or developmental disabilities;Ability to collect, maintain and evaluate client data;Ability to effectively work with agencies and businesses in the community to meet client needs;Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships;Ability to coordinate staff, submission of periodic reports and assessments;Ability to conduct therapy, which may include individual or group;Ability to effectively communicate technical information in easy-to-understand spoken and written form for a variety of audiences, including consumers, direct care workers, ABA technicians, families, OT students, other professionals, and the public;Ability to move in a timely manner to various work sites, in and around Genesee County, throughout the workday;Ability to plan and organize own work and prioritize activities according to policy;Physical ability to teach treatment interventions to care givers (includes brushing and joint compression, range of motion, ability to lift consumers or perform physical treatments).Previous experience working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.Previous experience working in a multidisciplinary team.Essential Physical Demands :
