The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) is seeking qualified candidates for :

Position Title : Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 1 (CDL Center)

Status : Full-Time

Salary : $32,000 / annually (non-negotiable)

Job Summary :

As an Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 1 for DDS, you will help make everyday life possible for thousands of State of Georgia residents. The successful candidate in this role can make a positive impact on the lives of their customers that walk in whether its issuing learner permits to teens, welcoming newcomers by converting out-of-state licenses, awarding driver licenses to the first-time drivers by administering examinations or issuing identity cards in compliance with state laws and regulations. The focus of this position is working with and through others within established guidelines. The ability to interact comfortably with a diverse population is important. The successful candidate in this position must be friendly and genuinely interested in helping others. Patience and attention to detail is a major focus of the job, and those details need to be handled quickly, accurately and efficiently.

DDS believes in internal mobility and career advancement opportunities for our employees with satisfactory performance to transition from Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 1 to Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 2 with an increase of 10%.

Duties :

Working with citizens to ensure applications, records and documents are completed accurately. Accompanying drivers in vehicles, both in a traditional and virtual capacity, to evaluate their ability to adhere to Georgia's driving laws. Conducting driving examinations for motorcycle and commercial licenses in accordance with state law and regulations. Operating visual testing equipment. Accurately collecting payments via cash or credit cards.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age
• Completion of a high school diploma or GED is required
• A valid Georgia Class C or equivalent License is required and must be maintained while employed in this position.
• At least one (1) year of Face-to-face Customer Service experience within the last five years
• At least one (1) year of Face-to-face experience with cash transactions including handling cash, daily reconciliation, and processing credit card payments within the last five years.
• Live within 30 miles of the Customer Service Center for which you are applying
• Comfortable working with computer and internet technology.

Working Conditions for this position are as follows :

Road skills tests are conducted throughout the year in a variety of weather conditions including rain, wind, summer heat and cold winter days. Testing begins in the early morning hours and continues through the early evening hours. The test runs approximately 30 minutes. Walking distances, standing, very little sitting, constant moving, good vision and hearing, climbing in trucks, bending, squatting, lifting, reaching, turning, riding in cars and trucks, driving cars and trucks, constant interaction with the public and co-workers are prerequisites.
