Compensation :
Year one total earnings range from $100,000 to $140,000Base Pay : $85,000 to $119,000
Sign on Bonus (paid out quarterly) : $15,000 to $21,000Profit Sharing Eligibility : Begins after completing 1 year of employment ($7.5 Million in Profits Paid to Profit Sharing Pool in 2024)Our Story

The Opportunity
As a Senior Category Manager for Kenny’s Candy & Confections, you will lead category strategy, portfolio optimization, consumer marketing, and retail marketing execution to grow our candy brands (primarily Wiley Wallaby and Sweet Chaos). This role blends analytical expertise, strategic planning, and cross-functional leadership to ensure our confectionery products are positioned to win in the marketplace.
The Senior Category Manager will drive product strategy, market segmentation, pricing, merchandising, and promotional initiatives while serving as the key liaison between sales, marketing, operations, and product development teams.
Responsibilities : Category Management
Develop and maintain product strategies and roadmaps to deliver growth and profitability. Lead portfolio assortment, ensuring a balanced mix of core, seasonal, and innovation SKUs.Conduct market segmentation and prioritization to target high-value categories, channels, and customers.Define positioning and value propositions for products based on consumer and shopper insights.Develop and execute marketing plans with communication targets for web, brand, social media, content, website, brand partnerships and sponsorships, and packaging.Collaborate with merchandising and retail executional (Ideal Customer Profile, Buyer Journey).Develop customer and shopper initiatives with sales, customer development, and business analysis partners.Analyze market and consumer insights using market research and syndicated data to inform category and customer development strategies.Manage demand forecasting, replenishment, and analyze agency / broker execution.Deliver monthly business reporting, leveraging syndicated data to explain key drivers of month-on-month sales or performance.Manage each brand’s P&L and course-correct as needed.Pricing
Develop and execute pricing strategies to align with market trends and maximize profitability.Proactively review pricing and adjust in alignment with market conditions and brand marketing objectives.Monitor and manage profitability (gross or standard margin) factoring in trade and promotional programs.New Product Development
Lead collaborative efforts on the Stage Gate process from concept to consumer shop, including product launches.Recommend product incorporations based on trends, consumer, and competitive insights.Product Management
Update the product mix to supply an evolving product category with inventory levels and service goals.Oversee SKU setup and maintenance, including SKU rationalization and pipeline management plan.Trade / Channel Marketing
Partner with sales and shopper marketing to develop promotional strategies and drive incremental consumption and implement in-store displays and strategic plans, including promotional calendars.Create training programs and toolkits for sales team, internal employees, channel teams, and retail partners based on insight, data, highlights, feedback, and requests from external partners such as sales, business development, marketing strategic plans, and advisory councils.Contribute to the creation of training materials and tools for retail teams and internal stakeholders based on insights and data.Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA a plus.4–7 years of experience in category management, product management, or trade marketing in CPG; confectionery / snacks experience preferred.Proven success managing product portfolios and delivering growth strategies.Strong understanding of syndicated data and retailer-specific platforms.Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and external partners.Skills & Attributes
