Overview
Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or improve existing computer systems, requiring strong development skills to design, build, and implement effective technical solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support and troubleshoot existing .NET applications and Windows?based infrastructure
- Develop and maintain scripts and tools using PowerShell and SQL
- Assist in the planning and strategic direction of a modernization initiative involving legacy systems and data integration
- Evaluate and recommend modern technologies and tools to support disease surveillance and data infrastructure modernization
- Collaborate with internal teams to assess current architecture and recommend improvements
- Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to internal staff
Public Health Data Exchange Responsibilities
Manage and optimize data exchange processes between external organizations, DPH, and CDCConfigure, monitor, and troubleshoot interfaces using the Rhapsody Integration EngineMaintain and enhance HL7 message routing, transformations, and mappingsTroubleshoot and maintain the NEDSS Base System (NBS)Implement upgrades and new functionality / modules (e.g., pages)Maintain ancillary systems such as NBS Utilities and the ELR data storeRequired Skills
Extensive experience with Rhapsody Integration Engine, including interface development, message transformation, and troubleshootingStrong SQL development and troubleshooting skillsProficient in C# and .NET FrameworkExperience with Windows Server administrationFamiliarity with IIS (Internet Information Services)PowerShell scripting for automation and maintenanceNice to Have
Experience with Oracle PL / SQLFamiliarity with HL7 or FHIR standardsExperience with TFS (Team Foundation Server)Knowledge of NBS / NEDSS systems and workflowsExperience with SMTP and SFTP protocolsUnderstanding of public health messaging vocabularies and clinical coding systems such as LOINC, SNOMED, and ICD?10?CMPreferred Qualifications
Full?time professional work experience in IT. Prior experience with various technologies and roles, including prior analysis, requirements gathering and formal modeling experience, but typically also has some prior experience in programming languages.
