Location : Saint Mary s Hospital (SMHP), New Jersey

Department : Surgery

Assignment Dates : October 6, 2025 January 4, 2026

Schedule : Monday Friday | 7 : 00 AM 3 : 00 PM | 5x8-hour shifts

Positions Open : 1 | On-Call Required

Position Overview

The Scrub Technician (Traveler) provides technical support to the surgical team by preparing operating rooms, instruments, and equipment, and by assisting during surgical procedures. This role requires strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instruments, and OR protocols.

Responsibilities

Prepare the operating room and ensure all necessary equipment and instruments are available.

Maintain sterile fields and adhere to infection control standards.

Assist surgeons by anticipating needs and passing instruments during procedures.

Care for and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.

Document and track surgical supplies and instrumentation usage.

Participate in on-call rotation as required.

Support the surgical team in ensuring safe and efficient operations.

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program required.

Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.

Minimum 1 year of operating room experience preferred.

Knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instruments required.

BLS certification required and must be maintained.
