NICU RN Job Details

Location : Steamboat Springs, Colorado 80487

Assignment Length : 13-week travel nursing contract (December 1, 2025 – March 2, 2026)

Shift : 12-hour night shifts (19 : 00 – 07 : 30), variable schedule

Hours per Week : 36

Weekend Requirement : Minimum 5 weekend night shifts per month

On-Call : As needed for unit coverage

Facility Setting : 10-bed Level II NICU, 5 labor rooms, 5 postpartum rooms (accepting neonates 32 weeks and older)

Charting System : Epic EMR

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $2130 - $2190

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Colorado or compact state

Minimum 2 years of recent NICU nursing experience (Level II or higher)

Experience in newborn transition and postpartum care

NRP certification required; STABLE certification preferred

BLS certification required

Ability to work independently in NICU and postpartum couplet care

Experience with Epic charting system preferred

Community hospital experience preferred

NICU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to neonates in a Level II NICU

Manage care for neonates 32 weeks and older, including specialized interventions

Provide postpartum couplet care as needed

Administer medications, blood products, and perform neonatal dosage calculations

Conduct APGAR scoring, blood glucose monitoring, and assist with neonatal procedures (e.g., lumbar puncture)

Operate oxygen delivery systems, ventilators (AC / PC / SIMV / CPAP / BIPAP / PEEP), and high-flow nasal cannula

Educate and support families throughout the NICU and postpartum experience

Float between units within scope to meet facility needs

Participate in on-call rotation as required
