Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Cardiac Sonographer Discipline : Allied Health Professional Start Date : 10 / 20 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift : 8 hours, days Employment Type : Travel Job Title : Cardiac Sonographer Job Summary : A Cardiac Sonographer performs specialized diagnostic ultrasound examinations to assess the structure, function, and blood flow of the heart. They work closely with cardiologists to detect and monitor cardiovascular conditions such as heart disease, valve disorders, and congenital heart defects, contributing to accurate diagnoses and effective treatment planning. Key Responsibilities : Perform echocardiograms (including transthoracic and transesophageal) to assess heart structure, function, and blood flow. Use Doppler and other imaging techniques to evaluate heart function, detect abnormalities, and assist in diagnosing cardiovascular conditions. Prepare and position patients for cardiac ultrasound exams, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout procedures. Operate echocardiographic equipment, ensuring proper calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of devices. Collaborate with cardiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to interpret echocardiographic findings. Provide detailed reports of echocardiographic results to support diagnosis and treatment planning. Educate patients and families on the purpose of cardiac ultrasound exams, answering questions, and providing post-procedure care instructions. Maintain accurate and complete patient records, documenting findings and outcomes of cardiac ultrasound procedures. Follow infection control and safety protocols when handling patients and equipment. Participate in quality assurance activities and continuing education to stay updated on advancements in cardiac sonography. Assist in developing care plans based on echocardiographic results and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care. Qualifications : Education : Associate’s degree or higher in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Cardiac Sonography, or a related field. Certification : Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) preferred.
