The Facilities & Safety Coordinator is responsible for managing the maintenance of Food Bank of Rockies' Western Slope facility, which also houses Meals on Wheels Mesa County, while providing direction, coordination, and consultation for all repair and construction activities. This role performs hands-on duties such as maintenance, repairs, building improvements, and minor cleaning. It supports the Operations Manager – Safety & Facilities located in Denver with improvement initiatives to reduce work-related risks, raise safety / food safety awareness, and improve safe work practices, as well as assist with incident investigations, and is responsible for maintaining operational standards, safety, and appearance in the organization.

Primary Responsibilities
Facilities
- Maintain day-to-day operations of the facility, prioritizing maintenance needs, and delegating or completing maintenance orders submitted in our internal ticketing system
- Work closely with the Facilities & Volunteer Ops Supervisor to lead facility and safety projects, and provide input in preparing and regulating facilities' annual budget
- Maintain interior and exterior to present an attractive appearance
- Ensure maintenance products are on hand for consistent day-to-day operations
- Schedule and manage third-party contractors for routine inspections, maintenance, and preventative repairs
- Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate cleaning services and groundskeeping from third-party contracted companies
- Manage facilities hard keys and serve as the primary contact for building electronic access
- Evaluate equipment utilization and maintenance records
- Develop, maintain, and implement routine preventative maintenance plans for facilities and equipment not covered under contract maintenance
- Assist in interviewing and verifying potential sub-contractors to become vendors with Food Bank of the Rockies
- Schedule routine inspections, maintenance, and preventative repairs with outside vendors
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures related to Facilities and equipment
- Serve as the primary trainer for warehouse equipment forklifts, pallet jacks and floor scrubber
Safety
Assist with implementing safety manuals, policies, and training programs, and support the Operations department with forklift trainingMaintain records for mandatory training purposesSupport the safety culture in coordination with leadership at our Western Slope Distribution CenterLead safety committee meetings to initiate and report on key safety protocolsContribute to the oversight of accident prevention programs, recognition, evaluation, and control of hazardous activities and conditionsCoordinate safety training and other activities involving all building occupantsConduct Safety Orientations in partnership with People & CultureSupport Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and ensures new materials and products have SDS sheets and appropriate training is providedAssist in maintaining records and logs of AIB, HACCP, and Pest ControlSupport with managing the AIB programs and policies at our Western Slope Distribution CenterPerform safety and food safety audits and inspectionsCreate reports on maintenance, repairs, safety, and other occurrences for supervisory staffSupport facility security by supporting building opening and closing proceduresHandle confidential information with discretion and care, ensuring the privacy and respect of employees, volunteers, partners, donors, or othersRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to present information clearly, respond to questions, and build relationships with staff, partners, clients, donors, and community organizations. Strong writing skills for reports, correspondence, and manualsProficiency with basic arithmeticSkill in solving practical problems, interpreting multiple forms of instructions, and adapting to situations with limited standardizationExperience with Microsoft 365 and database software, along with the ability to research and apply technical solutions for facility operationsWorking knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, landscaping, and industrial housekeepingCompetence in OSHA industrial and construction safety and ergonomicsAbility to read blueprints and electrical diagrams, perform basic machining, troubleshoot complex equipment, and operate equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks, and contracted machineryDemonstrated personal responsibility, integrity, transparency, and follow-through. This non-exempt, full-time position works approximately 40 hours per week in person. Work schedule is a typically Monday – Friday, 7 : 00 am – 3 : 30 / 4 : 00 pm and may consist of Saturdays as needed.
