Job Title : Phlebotomist II
Job Description
The primary role of the Phlebotomist II is to perform various duties related to blood and specimen collection, troubleshooting, and workflow management in a laboratory environment. The position requires expertise in phlebotomy procedures and a commitment to maintaining high standards in patient care and specimen integrity.
Responsibilities
Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
Decontaminate equipment and update patient information as needed.
Collect and store specimens according to established protocols.
Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process clearly and courteously to patients.
Demonstrate proficiency in using straight needles and butterfly needles.
Understand and execute all physicians' orders accurately.
Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
Ensure test requisitions or computer labels are 100% correct against scripts.
Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
Follow protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport.
Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Attend annual department training sessions.
Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to provide information.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in blood draw, venipuncture, and butterfly needle techniques.
Strong patient care skills.
Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
2-4 years of relevant experience.
Work Environment
The role is based in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting where strict adherence to safety and procedural protocols is essential. The work involves regular use of laboratory equipment and technology, including computers and centrifuges, and requires compliance with dress codes and safety regulations.

This is a Contract position based out of Denver, Colorado.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00 / hr.
