Job descriptionGain a broad understanding of the insurance industry, market dynamics, and company objectives. Develop insight into company operations, strategies, financials, and competitive positioning. Learn and apply knowledge of policy forms and coverage to assess exposures. Compare company offerings with competitors to identify and communicate differentiators. Effectively present company services tailored to client needs. Understand basic pricing, growth, and profitability goals in underwriting decisions. Analyze risk data to determine account eligibility while considering client needs. Make informed decisions on pricing, terms, and conditions within authority limits. Align underwriting decisions with business line and customer segmentation strategies. Refer accounts beyond authority and consistently meet service standards. Identify client needs and align product offerings accordingly. Negotiate coverage, pricing, and terms. Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective clients. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Preference for insurance, risk management, and actuary majors. Exposure to P&C insurance through an internship or first job preferred. Strong verbal and written communication skills with a positive, professional demeanor. Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced team environment. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across all organizational levels and with customers. Base Salary Range : $65,000 - $70,000 Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus. Benefits : Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, Wellness, Paid Time Off, 401(k) and Profit-Sharing plans. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.

Responsibilities
As a Berkley One Underwriting Trainee , you'll participate in a structured training program combining formal instruction and hands-on experience. This program builds foundational knowledge in high-net-worth personal lines, including product language, underwriting principles, risk assessment, customer relationship management, and sales proficiency.
