JOB SUMMARY :
The Medical Assistant (MA) provides essential clinical and administrative support to the medical and nursing teams at a 40-bed inpatient detox facility. The MA helps ensure efficient operations and high-quality patient care by assisting with vital signs, documentation, lab processing, medication support, and patient coordination. This role supports individuals undergoing withdrawal management and stabilization, always maintaining safety, compassion, and compliance with OhioMHAS and Joint Commission standards.
FULL TIME 3 Days / week, 7am-7 : 30pm , includes weekend coverage

DUTIES OF THE POSITION :
The duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following :
1. Clinical Support
- Obtain and record patient vital signs, weight, and other health data during intake and ongoing monitoring.
- Assist providers and nursing staff with patient assessments, exams, and procedures as directed.
- Collect, label, and prepare specimens (urine, blood, etc.) for lab testing.
- Document clinical information accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Support medication administration processes (e.g., preparing medications under supervision, maintaining stock).
- Monitor and report changes in patients’ conditions to nursing or medical staff.
2. Administrative Support
Maintain accurate and organized patient charts and records.Schedule follow-up appointments, labs, and consultations as directed.Assist with insurance, billing, and documentation requirements as needed.Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality regulations.3. Safety & Compliance
Adhere to infection control protocols, OSHA standards, and facility policies.Maintain exam rooms and nursing stations with proper supplies and equipment.Participate in quality improvement and audit readiness activities.Uphold all OhioMHAS and Joint Commission regulations related to patient care and documentation.4. Providing Support
Ensure a safe and supportive environment for patients.Assist in identifying and addressing potential crises or emotional distress.Implement de-escalation techniques and provide immediate support as needed.5. Collaboration and Communication
Manage telephonic and email communications, addresses patient inquiries, and relays messages to the appropriate personnel.Work closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare staff to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.ADDITIONAL DUTIES :

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
High School Diploma, or equivalentCompletion of an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred.LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) preferred.Current CPR / BLS certification (or willingness to obtain).PRIOR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
Minimum 1 year of healthcare preferred, ideally in addiction medicine, behavioral health, or acute care.Advanced knowledge of the basic principles, philosophies, practices, and procedures involved at Armada Recovery.Knowledge of tools to establish rapport with clients establishing a therapeutic allianceUnderstanding Cultural Competence and how to successfully work with others from various cultures and backgrounds, as evident by demonstrating the ability to work with diverse groups.Knowledge of withdrawal management protocols.SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS :
