This position is located at the Unaccompanied Housing, located at Naval Station Great Lakes operation at Mid-Atlantic Region. The purpose of this position is to provide front desk and / or reservation functions for the lodging program. Responsibilities include ensuring security and guest privacy, demonstrating effective communication skills, professionally interacting with guests, handling customer complaints, utilizing the Property Management System (PMS) to manage guest information and reservations, verifying registration information, securing credit cards for incidental expenses, authorizing credit cards for room charges, providing guests with their room key or card, processing reservations, providing certificate of non-availability (CNA) and / or alternative lodging in the area when rooms are not available, registering and assigning rooms to guests, issuing room keys or cards, transmitting and receiving messages, keeping records of occupied rooms and guest accounts, making and confirming reservations, and presenting statements to and collecting payments as necessary. The position also involves receiving and managing the change fund, preparing Close Bank Report, depositing cash receipts, inventorying keys and supplies, maintaining the front desk and lobby area clean and neat, running and printing various reports from the PMS, verifying charges for correctness, making appropriate changes if errors occur, completing all computer generated reports, answering phones, transferring calls, logging trouble calls, relocating guests to different rooms when required, retrieving Lost and Found items, and contacting guests regarding lost or found items. This position may require a rotating shift schedule, work hours may be scheduled for anytime during a 24 hour day, 7 days a week, and performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements include preferred 6 months of work experience demonstrating knowledge of basic principles, concepts, standards, and regulations related to hospitality operations, skill in the use of a personal computer and various software programs, basic math and reading skills, clear and effective communication skills both verbally and in writing in English, and the ability to handle, control, and account for large amounts of cash. Education does not have a positive requirement. Salary is dependent on experience and / or education. Some positions have special requirements.
