Engineering Technician I
General Description of Position :
Provides research, design, calculation, project coordination and CAD support to Project Manager, Project Engineer, Project Surveyor, and Senior Engineering Technician or Design Manger. Assignments generally may include, but are not limited to, the preparation of design calculations, cost estimates, quantity calculations, CAD drawings, specifications, maps, plats, exhibits, descriptions, local agency application packages, letters, project memoranda and reports under the direct supervision of a Project Manager, Project Engineer or Project Surveyor. Position requires good verbal and written communication skills. Position requires limited contact with firm’s clients and local public agency personnel.
The position of Engineering Technician is a non-exempt position.
Responsibilities :
- The following are the typical, but not all inclusive, responsibilities of the Engineering Technician position at KSN.
- Engineering Technician is responsible for performing routine engineering, design, and surveying assignments as may be periodically assigned by a Project Manager, Project Engineer or Project Surveyor, and coordinated with Senior Engineering Technician or Design Manger.
- Engineering Technician must have working knowledge in the areas of boundary surveys, site surveys, topographic surveys, hydrographic surveys, improvement plans and specifications, boundary and utility research, metes and bounds descriptions, and local agency design and mapping standards.
- Engineering Technician must have good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with staff and occasionally clients on matters of a technical nature.
- Engineering Technician must have good organizational skills and be capable of methodically and logically carrying out project assignments. Engineering Technician is responsible for clearly and legibly documenting calculations, communications and other matters related to project assignments.
- Engineering Technician is responsible for understanding and implementing KSN’s standards and procedures, including but not limited to CAD standards, file naming standards and plan / map format standards.
- Engineering Technician must have a good working knowledge of the current versions of the following software : Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Autodesk AutoCad.
- Engineering Technician is responsible for a general understanding of the project general scope and delivery schedule for all assignments and the budget expectations for specific assignments. Engineering Technician is responsible for making every reasonable effort to meet or exceed KSN’s obligations and commitments to its clients in these areas.
- Engineering Technician’s duties and responsibilities may include other assignments and tasks not specifically stated above.
- The direct labor utilization rate for the Engineering Technician position is expected to be a minimum of 85%.
Education :
Minimum of two years of college level education, or equivalent.
Experience :
Minimum of one to two years of relevant and increasingly responsible office experience.
Licensing :
California Drivers License
