Overview

An award-winning cardiac surgery program in Independence, Missouri is hiring a CVOR Surgical Technologist III (Tier 3) to join its advanced cardiovascular team. This senior-level technologist serves as a lead in open-heart and hybrid OR procedures, supporting cardiac and vascular surgeons in one of the region’s most comprehensive medical centers.

Key Responsibilities

• Function as a lead technologist for complex cardiac, vascular, and hybrid cases.

• Prepare and maintain sterile fields, surgical instruments, and specialty equipment.

• Anticipate surgical team needs during open-heart procedures.

• Mentor junior technologists and scrub staff on advanced CVOR techniques.

• Collaborate with nurses, anesthesia providers, and physicians for optimal patient outcomes.

• Participate in call rotation; prompt response required within 30 minutes.

Qualifications

Required

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST – NBSTSA) or Tech in Surgery (TS-C – NCCT)

• At least 1 year of CVOR and open-heart experience

• Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross)

Preferred

• 7+ years of CVOR or hybrid operating room experience

• Advanced CV certification and experience mentoring other surgical technologists
