Job Description

The Proposal Writer will apply proven federal proposal writing expertise and strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with technical and proposal teams, drafting compelling, compliant proposals. They will support drafting, messaging, and quality improvement across a range of proposals and special projects, delivering high quality, compliant proposals within tight proposal cycles as an integral member of the proposal team. Leveraging deep knowledge of solicitation documents and customer preferences, the Proposal Writer will enhance narrative responsiveness and help capture teams translate and message complex ideas.

The Proposal Writer will join the expanding Proposal Writing team in LM Space Proposal Operations, collaborating with Proposal Managers, Creative Services staff, and AI specialists. If you are a skilled writer with a keen eye for quality, responsiveness, and persuasive messaging, thrive in collaborative, high-pressure environments, and want to help grow a best-in-class proposal function, we'd love to hear from you. We highly encourage candidates to submit a cover letter highlighting how their experience aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications, and to attach a few writing samples in the same document.

Candidates are expected to be local to one of the four locations listed. Candidates will primarily work remotely, but will be required to be onsite for certain proposal development activities.

Primary job responsibilities include :

• Co-author and lead assigned volumes or sections for RFPs, RFIs, and assignments, providing expert writing support as needed.
• Partner with capture and business development teams to craft compelling narratives that reflect LM's value propositions and strategic goals.
• Collaborate with the Proposal Operations team to provide seamless, high-quality proposal support.
• Develop and provide proposal writing trainings to proposal teams.
• Support proposal writing tool and process development.

Ability to work remotely

Full-time Remote Telework : The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office / job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate : The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $85,400 - $150,650. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education / training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees : accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate : The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $98,300 - $170,315. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education / training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
