Overview
HDR is seeking an Environmental Team Lead with the skills, interest, and dedication to manage a dynamic team of environmental professionals in Kansas City and Springfield, MO. In this position, you will provide technical expertise across all business groups and assist in leading the environmental team in Kansas City and Springfield. You will work with senior management to develop business, manage and deliver projects, develop staff, and respond to client needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the Kansas City area Environmental team, including staff development, morale, quality control, profitability and marketing support; coordinate with HDR teams and prioritize projects and staffing to meet scope, schedule, and budget commitments.
 - Function as a Project Manager and / or Task Manager, overseeing technical requirements, production, budget, schedule, and client communications; plan, organize, control, and evaluate work through HDR's project management system.
 - Provide technical direction and guidance to staff, lead report preparation, and conduct quality control reviews.
 - Manage and develop multidisciplinary teams; coordinate with other managers on staffing, scope, schedules, and budgets.
 - Coordinate with the area Cross Sector Services Manager, St. Louis Section Manager / Team Lead, and area Project Managers to identify, maintain, and support project work.
 - Collaborate with marketing staff to support local and national marketing and production efforts, including planning, proposals, and interviews.
 - Perform other duties as needed.
 
Qualifications
Preferred : Master's degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Planning or a related field.Minimum of 3 years of experience in task management / project management, including management of scope, schedule, and budgets.Excellent writing and communication skills; self-starter able to work independently and as part of a team.Experience leading environmental tasks as part of engineering and planning projects.Preference for local candidates; experience in Missouri and / or Kansas strongly preferred.Proven experience managing and mentoring biologists / environmental scientists.Experience developing plans, proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for environmental projects with multidisciplinary teams and multi-agency efforts.Working knowledge of local, state and federal environmental requirements.Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; 10+ years of experience; professional registration, license, or certification may be required based on role.Strong communication and listening skills; ability to handle multiple assignments; good leadership and organizational skills.Commitment to HDR's employee-owned culture.What We Believe and Our Commitment : HDR is committed to employment equity and is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
