Job Description
Assists the Manager, Financial Reporting, in the reporting of financial operations. The Senior Accountant is responsible for the monthly reporting of significant components of the financial reporting systems such as groups of entities' (VNA companies), groups of departments (all administrative, all clinical or all ancillary departments) and the investment portfolios.
What You'll Do
- Processes cash transfers within system bank accounts in addition to ACHs and wire transfers to recipients external to our banking system.
- Records and maintains detailed schedules of various balance sheet accounts for individual entities monthly prepares reconciliation of GL balance with supporting documentation.
- Responsible for preparation and input of recurring, standard and manual journal entries.
- Monitors cash balances for several entities and reconciles monthly bank statements in a timely manner.
- Reconciles main checking accounts.
- Prepares a complete balance sheet and income statement for individual or groups of entities with the health care systems. Analyzes revenue and expense postings comparing actual to budget monthly. Records accruals or deferrals of costs and revenues as necessary.
- Participates fully in interim and year-end audit process prepares audit schedules as assigned by Manager and interacts with auditors as necessary.
- Assists other members of the health systems in understanding financial policies and procedures needed to ensure timely account postings to various GL, AR, and AP systems.
Essential Job Functions
Responsibility for monthly oversight and processing of health system bank account transactions including ACHs, wire transfers, etc.Other monthly responsibilities for recording and maintaining accurate and detailed accounting documentation such as balance sheets, income statements, bank statements, revenue and expense postings, accruals, deferrals, etc.Regula reconciliation of system bank accounts.Full participation in audits, both on an interim and on an annual basis.Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.Ability to express and clearly communicate Finance policies and procedures and / or detailed instructions and procedures for proper recordkeeping.Attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to make complex decisions in rapidly changing situations.Ability to collaborate with colleagues across departments.Ability to manage emotions and stress in a dynamic work environment.Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or combination of equivalent education and work experience.Experience : Three (3) to five (5) years of accounting experience required. Accounting experience in a healthcare environment preferred.Knowledge : Knowledge of accounting principles and practices applicable in a public accounting environment required.Skills : Working knowledge of MS Office required. Workday knowledge is a plus.Abilities : Ability to work under tight deadlines, multi-task, attention to detail required.Why You'll Love Us
