Overview :
Under minimum supervision, the Annuity Associate (I) performs specialized clerical duties which require attention to detail and a thorough understanding of applicable Plan rules, and departmental policies and procedures. The job duties include customer service, data entry, opening mail, interpreting reports, and processing claims for benefits. Communication with participants, staff and certain service providers is required. The Annuity Associate (I) is a full-time position, in the Retirement Benefits Department with a core work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 AM – 5 : 00 PM. Schedule may change depending on departmental needs. Overtime may be needed periodically.
Position Functions and Responsibilities :
- Open, review and sort incoming Annuity Fund mail, e-mails, faxes and track with applicable workflow correspondence.
- Compile application distribution claim files for further processing.
- Prepare and scan completed applications for final payment processing by recordkeeper.
- Respond to inquiries from participants, beneficiaries, and union representatives relating to eligibility and Plan benefits.
- Remain apprised of participant communications and have thorough knowledge of recordkeeper website and online tools available to the participant.
- Process daily mail merge reports and basic correspondence, such as address changes and 401(k) enrollment forms.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by the Annuity Manager.
Required Qualifications and Skills :
1-2 years employee benefits experience is mandatory.Working knowledge of Defined Contribution fund administration preferred.Working knowledge in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality.Excellent oral / written communication skills and attention to detail.Professional phone etiquette and customer service skills.Typing skills and proficiency with 10-key a must.Highly organized, detail oriented and ability to multi-task.Associates degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, vendors, and participants / beneficiaries.Ability to work under pressure and deliver professional results while meeting various deadlines.Proficiency in Spanish a plus (read, write, speak, translate).Strong sense of ownership, self-accountability, and urgency to manage assigned projects.Dedicated team player with an interest in processing efficiency and effectiveness.Proficient, detail oriented, organizational and communication skills (written / verbal).NOTE :
