AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud remains operational. We support AWS public sector data centers and manage all servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, ensuring customers can continually access the innovation they rely on. Our team faces highly challenging problems with numerous variables influencing secure facility design, and we are searching for talented people ready to contribute.

As a Senior Physical Security Engineer, you will lead security designs for Amazon Dedicated Cloud (GovCloud) Data Centers (DC) across the Americas Region. You will implement measures to protect high-security, resilient, and cost-effective DC facilities, ensuring compliance with government regulations and security standards such as Intelligence Community Directive 705. Your role will involve integrating perimeter hardening, acoustic security standards, electronic access control systems, UL2050 intrusion detection systems, and electronic emanations security standards into facility designs.

In this position, you will work alongside a dynamic team of architects, engineers, and designers aimed at solving complex problems and redefining industry standards. As a subject matter expert in industrial security design, your insights will significantly influence DC facility design, allowing you to assist in resolving implementation issues and developing security design requirements for both internal and external partners.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead the development of physical security designs for Amazon Dedicated Cloud (GovCloud) DC projects, including construction drawings and specifications.
  • Collaborate with AWS industrial security organizations to create design standards, assess cost, risks, and benefits of designs, and ensure compliance for the intelligence community.
  • Stay updated on the latest physical security technologies and best practices relevant to sensitive compartmented information facility designs.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of Physical Security Basis of Design documents, prototypes, and template specifications.
  • Draft security design scopes of work for Requests for Proposals.
  • Review and guide the work of physical security engineering design consultants.
  • Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
  • Travel for site assessments, design meetings, construction reviews, and interactions with design consultants (anticipated travel not to exceed 25%).

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of physical security design experience in a regulated industry.
  • 3+ years of physical security design experience in data centers or similar critical projects.
  • 5+ years of experience in Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) physical security design.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 705 certification.
  • Physical Security Professional (PSP) certification.
  • Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) certification.
  • Strong vendor and consultant management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to align with Amazon's leadership principles and meet the functional / technical depth required for this role.

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,600 / year in the lowest geographic market to $212,800 / year in the highest. Pay varies based on market location, experience, and skills. Comprehensive benefits and compensation packages are offered, which can include equity and sign-on bonuses.
