Job Summary

The incumbent will be responsible for directing, or assisting to direct, a competitive sport program and meeting the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA) requirements for the program. The coach is both a mentor and positive role model for all students with which they interact.

Responsibilities

  • Direct or assist in directing a competitive boys volleyball program in alignment with UHSAA requirements.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and respectful environment; serve as a mentor and positive role model for students.
  • Build a positive working relationship with students, school staff, administration, parents, and the community.
  • Develop athletes by creating a strong, positive, competitive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship and academic excellence.
  • Mentor, train, and educate athletes in the sport and relevant skills and techniques; promote safety and injury prevention.
  • Maintain program traditions and collaborate with the school and community.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirements : Cleared background check through Granite School District; High school diploma or equivalent; Current Utah Concussion Training certification through NFHS.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
  • Skill in developing athletes while building a strong, positive, and competitive team culture.
  • Ability to mentor, train, and educate athletes in sport and safety-related techniques.
  • Knowledge of UHSAA requirements and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain strong traditions and work with an involved community.

    Stipend Only

    Additional Information

    Current teachers under contract with Granite School District do not need to apply to be a coach. Please contact the school to express coaching interest. Coaches have significant unsupervised access to students and are required to clear a background check prior to serving as a coach. Granite School District will cover the cost of this background check.
