School Resource Officer Minimum Qualifications

3 years experience as a certified police officer

Reports to Superintendent Of Ed

Salary District Scale Work Year 250 Days

Specific Responsibilities

• Assists and provides guidance to principals and staff in the maintenance of a safe school environment.
• Patrols and monitors all areas of the school campus to prevent criminal activity, unauthorized vehicles and illegal parking.
• Interrogates and detains unauthorized personnel.
• Provides the faculty with technical assistance regarding school safety planning, crisis training, occupational safety, and overall school security.
• Enforces state codes, ordinances, regulations, policies, and procedures on school property.
• Conducts criminal investigations, and collects information, intelligence, and evidence regarding criminal violations on campus, presents investigative results to the Court and assists in prosecution.
• Primarily responsible for all criminal investigations on campus.
• Assists in filing criminal charges for crimes committed on campus.
• Keeps reports and provides documentation of activities.
• Maintains good rapport and liaison with faculty, law enforcement, judiciary, and community service agencies.
• Conducts classes related to crime prevention, drug education, law, ethics, and other related areas.
• Provides counseling and referral services within areas of expertise.
• Provides security for after school events.
• Other duties as specified.
