Security Guard Level I & II
Responsible for overseeing the safety and security of Albuquerque Convention Center facilities and Albuquerque Convention Center patrons, employees, and assets. Essential duties and responsibilities include :
- Maintaining 24-hour security of the interior and exterior of the building.
- Providing security services for assigned facilities; conducting periodic patrols by foot to ensure only authorized personnel are on facility grounds.
- Locking and unlocking facility doors as directed.
- Regulating the flow of employees and the public on facility premises to ensure safety.
- Responding to calls for service and reports of crimes in progress; calling for emergency services (police, medical or fire) as necessary; assisting outside agencies as needed.
- Conducting preliminary investigations to determine if a crime has been committed; determining whether further action is warranted; documenting incidents and preparing reports.
- Conducting periodic fire and safety hazard inspections of facilities; developing recommendations for enhancing security precautions.
- Monitoring and operating computers, CCTV, and Fire Alarm Panels.
- Performing duties in the control center as assigned; dispatching security via radio; answering telephones; maintaining a 24-hour incident log; notifying chain of command in matters of serious nature.
- Providing general assistance to the public; receiving and documenting all lost and found articles; responding to and resolving inquiries.
- Preparing a variety of reports regarding security enforcement activities.
- Collecting parking fees, charging customers accordingly.
- Providing information and assistance to the public regarding parking information and options; responding to complaints or directing complaints to appropriate staff.
- Providing security of the ACC parking structure.
- Monitoring the occupancy of the parking structure and providing alternate parking locations if necessary.
- Maintaining and cleaning surrounding work area.
- Interacting with ACC patrons, vendors & employees in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conducting bag search / wand / monitors metal detectors for all those entering the facility.
- Completing all assigned tasks within the guidelines & deadlines set by the Director of Security & Parking.
- Complying & adhering to the department's performance, conduct, & attendance standards.
- Complying with all legal & ethical instructions given by the Director of Security & Parking.
- Adhering to the Security department's prime directives.
- Basic computer skills (i.e. : Microsoft Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Communicating clearly and concisely in English.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED.Current valid New Mexico Guard Card to the appropriate level as necessary or obtain the NM Guard Card within 3 months of employment.Preferred knowledge includes principles and practices of security procedures, principles and practices of fire safety and evacuation procedures, exceptional customer service habits, verbal de-escalation concepts, methods and techniques of two-way radio communication, and principles and procedures of record keeping and basic report preparation.Preferred skills and ability include the ability to prepare clear and concise reports, operate two-way radio, perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.Working conditions may include performing work indoors or out, in inclement weather, exposure to loud environments and potentially hostile individuals, and maintaining physical conditions necessary for sitting, standing, climbing stairs or walking for prolonged periods of time; running, kneeling, and light carrying.
