What a day looks like
You arrive to find a prioritized stack of Job Travelers and Inspection Reports. You review drawings, Quality Control Plans, and GD&T callouts, then set up your first job on the mill or lathe. Offsets are dialed in, fixtures verified, and tooling is checked. As the parts run, you measure features with calipers, micrometers, intra-mics, and pin gages, making smart adjustments to keep everything within spec. Between cycles, you mentor Level 1 and 2 Machinists on best practices and inspection techniques, audit standard work and process control plans, and jump in to troubleshoot a stubborn fixture or toolpath. Throughout the shift, you keep your workcell spotless and safe to 6S standards, capture time, attendance, and inventory in the system, and collaborate with other teams when they call for backup.
