Summary
Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Sr. Test Software Engineer (LabVIEW / TestStand) to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Production IPT Lead - CDH (Command & Data Handling) the Sr. Test Software Engineer will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and maintaining software systems for Qualification and Production AFT / ATP testing of CDH electronic modules installed in satellite buses. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will design, develop, and deploy test automation frameworks, optimize test sequences, and be a driving force behind our space vehicle deliveries!

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Software Development and Maintenance :
- Own the full software lifecycle for key product lines : requirements, architecture adaptation and design trade-offs, implementation, integration, verification, deployment, and sustainment.
- Design, develop, and maintain LabVIEW / TestStand-based software applications for automated test systems, implementing efficient, reusable, reliable, and scalable software solutions to automate testing processes for electronic modules in satellite buses.
System Integration and Testing :
Lead integration of test and measurement hardware, including NI equipment (PXI, cRIO, DAQ, instrumentation) and other related equipment vendors, integrating software with various hardware components and systems used in aerospace testing environments.Conduct thorough testing and validation of software to ensure reliability and accuracy, troubleshooting and resolving complex integration issues in production and environmental test environments.Technical Leadership and Collaboration :
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, offering technical reviews, coaching, and career growth support.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish test strategies, define test requirements, and ensure comprehensive test coverage and validation.Serve as the technical point of contact for stakeholders on software matters, ensuring clear communication of progress and challenges, and maintaining project status / progress documentation.Delegate and oversee large sections of work, forming and leading sub-teams as needed to deliver on aggressive schedules.Documentation and Compliance :
Develop comprehensive documentation for software designs, test procedures, maintenance guides, and user manuals.Utilize version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) to manage software versions, updates, and modifications, ensuring all software development activities comply with aerospace industry best practices.Implement verification methods and tools to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results, including automated test scripts and validation protocols using LabVIEW and TestStand.Innovation and Continuous Improvement :
Drive DevOps adoption by integrating test software with GitLab CI / CD pipelines for continuous testing and deployment.Stay current with advancements in LabVIEW programming, TestStand, and related technologies, contributing to continuous improvement by implementing processes that raise the quality, efficiency, and reliability of all software efforts.Refine automation strategies and track longer-term architectural changes / practices, including defining process or code release standards, and lead individual and group code reviews to ensure the quality and functionality of automated tests.Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative solutions to enhance testing efficiency and accuracy.Contribute to the development of new testing methodologies and tools to support evolving aerospace technologies.Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering field (e.g., aerospace, mechanical engineering).4+ years of experience in Test Automation software engineering, Electrical Test / Systems Engineering, and LabVIEW programming and development.3+ years of experience with TestStand.Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) by National Instruments / NI Emerson.Proficiency in LabVIEW / TestStand programming and development for larger code bases or highly collaborative frameworksStrong understanding of test systems and their application in qualification and production acceptance testing.Knowledge of aerospace industry best practices for software development and testing.Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) for managing software versions and updates.Demonstrated proficiency in tools such as GitLab for task management and CI / CD, with a strong understanding of CI / CD practices and tools.Strong knowledge of hardware interfaces and communication protocols (e.g., GPIB, USB, Ethernet, RS-485, RS-422).Experience with hardware integration, including data acquisition devices (digital I / O and analog measurements), electronic loads, programmable power supplies, and digital multimeters (DMM).Proficiency in developing comprehensive documentation and verification methods.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills to identify and resolve hardware-software integration technical issues.Strong communication and collaboration abilities.Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.U.S. Person or lawful permanent resident to comply with U.S. government space technology export regulations.Additional Differentiators
Certified TestStand Developer (CTD), Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) or other related software certifications.Demonstrated ability to integrate larger (multi-language) code bases like LabVIEW and / or TestStand with other software platforms or scripting programming languages (e.g. Python, bash / shell).Expertise in programming for electrical instrumentation (power supplies, e-loads etc.) and data acquisition targets (PXIe).Subject Matter Expertise in spacecraft, avionics, or other remote sensing command & data handling architectures.Proficiency in handling large datasets and implementing complex data analysis algorithms.Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Physical Demands
