PURPOSE :

Provides supervision and instruction to students seeking a career as an EMT or paramedic. Responsibilities include the design or implementation of a training program for a trade school or college. Instructors teach students through field learning, skills laboratory, and in class, and assess students' learning, providing feedback and timely corrective and remedial action as needed. The training program must meet all qualifications and state regulations for EMT education, preparing students to earn a National Registry of EMTs paramedic certification.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, & RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Participates in the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of EMT educational program offerings.
• Prepares and delivers instruction either at the EMT Academy or off-site, as needed; supervises the activities of course participants during instructional time.
• Evaluates learner performance, provides feedback, and develops learner remediation plans.
• Fulfills EMT educational program administrative requirements, to include calculation and submission of grades, maintenance of program, course, and student / participant records, and preparation and submission of data and reports.
• Assists SSI Director in assessing EMT Trainees' fitness to participate in clinicals per all standards and LU MoUs requirements with providers.
• Participates in continuing professional development programs as appropriate.
• Adheres to established University and departmental policies and procedures and relevant quality and safety standards.
• Participates in activities that promote the EMT Academy, to include student recruiting, and program marketing events, as appropriate.
• May lead, guide, and train staff / student employees, interns, and / or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment and supervision of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
